Thai Language Major, School of Education, Walailak University Organizes “Young Teacher Students Read” Project to Inspire Lifelong Learning Through the Forum “Reading Is Life’s Work”
On July 8, 2026, the Thai Language Major, School of Education, Walailak University, organized the “Young Teacher Students Read” Project under the theme “Opening the World of Reading: Reading Is Life’s Work” at the Si Thammarat Conference Room, School of Architecture and Design Building. The project aimed to promote a culture of reading and inspire student teachers to continuously develop themselves toward becoming high-quality Thai language teachers.
The event was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr. Charun Boonkarn, Acting Dean of the School of Education, who emphasized the importance of reading as a fundamental foundation for learning, critical thinking, and professional development in the teaching profession.
A key highlight of the project was the forum entitled “Opening the World of Reading: Reading Is Life’s Work,” featuring distinguished speakers, including Associate Professor Dr. Thanyoo Sangkhaphatthananont (Phaithun Thanya), a S.E.A. Write Award-winning author and National Artist, and Rewat Phanphiphat, a S.E.A. Write Award-winning poet and National Artist. Both speakers shared their experiences, perspectives, and inspiration regarding the value and significance of reading.
The discussion was moderated by Pratcha Tatsana, Director of Thungsong Pittayakom School, poet, and musician, together with Ms. Nattamaporn Khaothong, a third-year student in the Thai Language Major.
The forum was conducted in a warm and intellectually engaging atmosphere. Participants exchanged ideas on the role of reading as an essential tool for learning, everyday life, and personal development. The discussion highlighted that reading is not merely an academic skill, but also a vital foundation for cultivating knowledgeable, thoughtful, and reflective teachers who are committed to lifelong learning.
The “Young Teacher Students Read” Project reflects the Thai Language Major’s commitment to fostering a love of reading, strengthening analytical thinking, and preparing student teachers to become high-quality Thai language educators who can inspire learners and contribute positively to society.
