Walailak University’s School of Education proudly congratulates Dr. Chutacaphat Rattanaphan on the publication of her research in Cogent Arts & Humanities, a Q1 international journal with a Scopus percentile of 88. This achievement reflects the academic quality and international visibility of research produced by the School of Education.
The published article, titled “Representation of Prostitutes in Thai Songs, 2019–2024,” examines how women engaged in sex work are represented in Thai songs released between 2019 and 2024.
This study offers a critical analysis of musical texts as cultural media, highlighting how songs can reflect social values, cultural meanings, and contemporary public perceptions. Through this lens, the research explores the ways in which music contributes to the construction of meaning, identity, and social discourse surrounding marginalized women in Thai society.
The study also provides an important academic perspective in the fields of humanities, cultural studies, and media analysis. By examining popular music as a site of representation, the research deepens understanding of how cultural narratives are shaped and communicated in contemporary society.
