Walailak University Celebrates Songkran Festival, Preserving Thai Traditions and Seeking Blessings for the Thai New Year
Walailak University organized the “Walailak Songkran Festival” in celebration of the Thai New Year on April 8, 2025, at the central hall of the Architecture and Design Laboratory Building. The event aimed to preserve Thailand’s rich cultural heritage while promoting auspiciousness and well-being among university staff.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy, highlighted by the traditional Rod Nam Dam Hua ceremony, in which participants respectfully poured scented water to seek blessings from senior administrators and faculty members. This meaningful ritual reflects gratitude and respect in accordance with Thai cultural values.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the ceremony and delivered New Year blessings to attendees, offering encouragement and good fortune for the year ahead.
The School of Education also actively participated in the event, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pongphan Kamparn, Acting Deputy Dean, along with faculty members and staff. Together, they took part in the water-pouring ceremony and proudly upheld Thai traditions.
The “Walailak Songkran Festival” serves as an important platform for preserving and passing on Thai cultural heritage, while strengthening unity and positive relationships within the organization.
