Walailak University Researcher Publishes in Q1 International Journal, Highlighting Language and Power in Colonial Siam
The School of Education at Walailak University proudly congratulates Asst. Prof. Dr. Passarawinya Iamsa-ard, a faculty member of the School of Education, on the publication of her research in the international journal Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, which is ranked in the Q1 category.
Her article, “My words fly up, my thoughts remain below: colonialism, language strategies and the formation of critical discourse of Chakri reformation in the late 19th century Siam,” examines the role of language as a key tool in negotiating political power and constructing social legitimacy among Thai elites during the colonial era in the 19th century.
The study highlights the complex relationships between society, civilizational discourse, and political reform in Siam during its transition into a modern society. It also contributes to advancing knowledge in the fields of humanities, social sciences, language education, and critical historical studies.
